International entrepreneurship from emerging to developed markets: an institutional perspective

Purpose The authors explore how home and host market institutions impact emerging (EM) international entrepreneurship (IE) into developed markets. Design/methodology/approach Based on four case studies of Nigerian entrepreneurs expanding the USA, this qualitative research adopts an institutional perspective to study EM IE. Findings findings show formal informal simultaneously enable constrain IE process. Weak shape opportunity recognition decision but seriously impede development exploitation activities in market. benefit from highly functioning regulation whilst also experiencing discriminatory treatment institutions. further positive constraining effects throughout Originality/value findings, paper details future ideas, managerial implications recommendation for policymakers.
